Movie Review: This Means War

This Means War

Release: 17 February 2012
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy
Director: McG
Genre: Action, Comedy, Romance
Length: 97 min.
Rating: R

Tagline: It's SPY against SPY.

Basic Premise:
Tuck and FDR are CIA agents who have fallen for the same girl. They come to a gentleman's agreement to both date her without letting on they know each other until she makes a choice between them. The idea is to play fair, but neither man can pass up using the resources their job affords them to sabotage the other. It's spy vs spy in the game of love.

My Review:
This movie was HILARIOUS! This is the ultimately perfect date movie. It has all the romance, bromance, and drama that women love. It has all the action, gun fights, and explosions guys love. And vice versa. I can't remember a movie that made me laugh so hard so many times. You'll be rooting for both guys to win the girl.

I absolutely loved the bromance between Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. The way they bounced off each other as friends and then as rivals totally made this movie. As well, Chelsea Handler made the perfect "best friend" character. Typical example of the friend that will always get you in trouble and then ask why you would ever follow their advice.

From beginning to end, this movie didn't disappoint. It's a shame it released in February because it was worthy of March, at least.

Parents, this movie earned it's R-rating with violence, sexual situations, and language. And this is the epitome of a date movie. Be warned.

Megan Kelly Review:
THIS MEANS WAR is a fun movie about two federal agents who use government resources in their competition to win the heart of a woman. Reese Witherspoon is her usual adorable self. There's not much depth or character development, but if you're looking for something light, this could be a good choice. I can't tell you (without spoiling it) why it doesn't get a higher mark from me. Grade: B

Jillian Chantal Review:
I went to see this film last weekend mainly because I'm a huge Tom Hardy fan and I think Reese Witherspoon is adorable. Chris Pine is cute, too, so I knew I'd at least enjoy the view. I was disappointed somewhat in the film itself. While it had some great moments, I was not really thrilled with it. I think it was the employer in me. These two guys needed to be fired from their jobs for the waste of the employer's resources and there had to be way too much suspension of reality with what they got away with. Now, that being said, it was definitely worth the price of admission for the two hour look at two hot guys. So, I'd give it one of those one thumb up and one thumb down ratings.

I loved these reviews. It is a good, fun date night movie and the bromance was fun.

I agree also that some of the things I wanted to say would have been spoilers so I left them out. There were several! LOL!
