Movie Review: Red Tails
Red Tails
Release: 20 January 2012
Starring: Terrence Howard, Nate Parker, Tristan Wilds, Elijah Kelley
Director: Anthony Hemingway
Genre: Drama, Action, Adventure, War
Length: 121 min.
Rating: PG-13
Basic Premise:
It's WWII and this is the story of an all black fighter pilot squadron and their battle to prove they are worthy to fight for their country.
My Review:
Lucas did a very good thing. This movie will pull you into the characters and make you care. You are flying alongside them, cheering their victories and crying over their defeats.
This movie is many things. It is NOT an action-packed thrill ride. It is a drama. The war is a backdrop, not the plot. The plot is the brave men who fought to be treated as pilots first and how they got that chance.
While the hubby and I did leave the theater wondering one thing, that didn't detract from our enjoyment.
Parents, the movie is PG-13 for war time violence. Not much in the way of cursing (that I can remember). However, the pacing of this movie may leave some younger children bored. As I already said, this is a drama movie, not action.
