Movie Review: Captain America
Captain America: The First Avenger
Basic Premise
Steve Rogers has the heart of a warrior but his body is severely lacking. He wants to serve his country and a military doctor who is head of an experimental new program to produce super soldiers gives Steve that chance.
End of Credits
Stay until the end of the credits. Duh, it's a Marvel movie. There is stuff there along with a preview for the Avengers movie duh out Summer 2012.
Review
Now this is what I want from a Marvel movie. The plot was solid, the acting was on, and I'm looking forward to another installment of the Captain America story. Tommy Lee Jones gave his usual straight-man performance. It's what I love about him, and he does it so well. Chris Evans was great in this role, proving that he is a very versatile actor.
I wasn't that fond of how it ended, since it didn't really end. You all know how I feel about that. Even a To Be Continued needs an ending.
Parents, there is mild cursing and lots of violence. Again, duh, it's a Marvel movie. They are pushing that PG-13 rating to the breaking point.
For all the Marvel movie fans, this is one of the must see movies.
Previews
- Contagion - This is a no.
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Since I'm doing a review on this soon, I'll refrain from comment.
- Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Woohoo! I love this movie franchise. Glad to see it's still going.
- The Three Musketeers - Based on the preview for this, I can say with a great amount of certainty that they aren't going for historical or even period accuracy with this movie. I may still go see it though.
- The Amazing Spiderman - Ahhh finally, the Spiderman reboot. And hey look. They're starting over with him being bit by that spider again. Joy. I'll go see, don't get me wrong. I'm just not enthused to see the origin story AGAIN.
- The Adventures of Tintin - Why? Seriously. Why?
