Where's George?

I recently came into possession of a "Where's George?" dollar bill. This isn't the first time I've gotten one, but it is the first time I've logged on and filled out the little form. It's not that I didn't want to. More like it slipped my mind and then the dollar was spent.

If you ever get one of these bills (it's not just ones), I urge you to actually fill out the form at the website. It doesn't take that long. Also, look up where the bill has been and what other bills have passed through your locale. I saw one bill had started in MD and ended up in Cuba. Pretty cool. Cooler still how a lot of these bills have passed through strip clubs. :P

I'll be passing my George along one day. Probably as a tip in some restaurant. Hopefully the person who gets it will report back.

This has been my random thought for the day. :P

Feeling Accomplished

Woot!

All right!

Yeehaw!!

I am definitely shaking my money-maker over here. I got my laptop up and running again without having to format it.

17 December - Start my computer and receive error "Windows\System32\Config\System file is either corrupted or cannot be found" and thus Windows will not load.

NOOOOOOO!!!

I just formatted this damn laptop, like three or four months ago (I think I mentioned it on the blog as well). I don't want to do it again. I have over 3400+ songs in iTunes. The songs themselves are safe on an external drive, but do you know how long it would take to re-create all of my playlists!!??

No worries about my books. Those are backed up in two separate locations and kept on my mini, not my laptop.

I did some searching and found out this is a common error that MS knows about. The cause of which is the registry acting screwy. Due to a visiting Mommy and other wackiness, I wasn't able to do anything about it until a few hours ago on 21 December (right in the middle of a lunar eclipse that I will run out and see as soon as I post this).

What should have been a quick, very little fuss fix became infinitely harder because the rat bastards at Toshiba don't include a Windows XP disc with their laptops. Instead, they include some Toshiba files disc set onto which they have burned all the programs your Toshiba uses. It isn't worth a damn and wouldn't help me solve my problems since that disc set will not and cannot run Recovery Console.

Feeling my options were limited, I resigned myself to having to format my hard drive back to factory standard and go through no less than eight hours of software updates and restarts to get my computer functioning the way it was before it went screwy. Before all of that, I made a quick trip to Best Buy to buy a hard drive enclosure kit so I could remove my hard drive from my laptop, slave it out to my mini, and get my files and data.

A silver lining appeared before I followed through with the great erasure. Flash (Stephanie Burke) had a copy of Windows XP that I could use to run Recovery Console. Good old Dell, which is what she owns. Can't go wrong with them.

So I borrowed her copy of XP, ran Recovery Console, followed the directions listed on the MS site, copied and deleted files, and got my computer running again.

No lost files, everything is running, and I promptly ran every single Norton cleaning utility I own to make sure it won't happen again.

Now I'm off to stare at the lunar eclipse for a few minutes. I would gawk longer since this is a monumental event (last lunar eclipse that happened on the winter solstice was in the 1600's), but it's freezing outside.

Christmas Lights #1

I haven't been posting in the last few days because I haven't had much of anything to say. Not even nonsense. I finally found something to post until the new year brings new words...

Christmas lights.

I love watching these things and marveling at the amount of time and talent it takes for a display like this to come together. So I'll post one a day until Christmas.

I'll figure out what to do after Christmas when it gets here. :P

Snort... Laugh... Really?!!

For anyone wondering about my title of this post, please watch the following:

(Note 20 December 2010 revision -- The vid I embedded was removed from YouTube, so I'm posting the links to three vids that aren't allowed to be embedded. It's funny to note that I didn't know the commercial I originally posted had weapons omitted. :P)

Left Behind 3: Rise of the Antichrist:

- LB3 1:50 FULL commercial
- LB3 30 Second theatrical
- LB3 G-rated, weapons omitted version

Much thanks to "InspiredGames" for posting the above.

I saw this little nugget before the previews started for Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which this was the appropriate movie to air it, I won't argue that.

The first thing the hubby and I said to each other after seeing the above -- that is the MOST ethnically diverse and open-minded gang I have ever seen. I mean, I don't think they left any one gang stereotype unrepresented. It's hilarious.

In a real world scenario, they would watch him do that and then look at each other in confusion. One of them would then knock him over the head, another would take his guitar, and the rest would beat the crap out of him. When they were done, they would all walk away laughing.

And what's up with the title? Is that their way of making it sound "hard"?

So, to reiterate...

*SNORT*

*Laugh*

Really?!!

*Laughs some more*

Random Previews: December 2010

You know, this is turning into a bimonthly thing instead of a monthly thing. Maybe I should just make it officially bimonthly. But then again, if I do that, then it may become quarterly. :P

On with the show.

- Hop (01 April 2011)
I watched the teaser and read the blurb and I'm still confused. I'm guessing this is a slice-of-life (as it were), coming of age tale using bunnies and rock and roll. :P I'll hold my opinion on whether to see it or not until I see a longer preview.

- The Eagle (11 February 2011)
While I like watching films set in this era (blame Elizabeth Taylor and Cleopatra), I do believe this is a pass. I also believe the preview gave away a fair portion of the plot and conclusion.

- The Temptest (10 December 2010)
"Shakespeare's final masterpiece" is given a big screen make over using the actual play as it's script. Looks interesting. Maybe not movie theater interesting. More than likely DVD interesting.

- The Roommate (04 February 2011)
Oh goody. The return of the Single White Female, Hand That Rocks the Cradle, American Psycho 2 plots. And like all of those movies, I'll be seeing this when it comes on TV.
